Created in 1991 after the fall of communism, UK Enterprise has over the years become the primary resource centre for central and eastern European states wishing to engage with British companies to help assist in their transition to market-based democracies and ultimately, EU member states.

UK Enterprise continues to make an important contribution to that effort, and the business environment and economic progress in many countries in central and eastern Europe is markedly better than it was in 1991 as a result.
